A College/University Alternate Universe Fanfic for my favorite ship ever: Lumity. In this story, Luz and Amity are students of Hexside University and as the summary says, Amity is the Popular Student and Luz is the outcast with few friends.
This is my first actual long fan fiction work. It was originally made as a single chapter oneshot, but after receiving many positive responses on the first chapter in the comments and also many kudos, I decided to add 3 more chapters.
I struggled quite a bit during writing as this is the first (or one of the first) works of fiction I’ve ever written and the only knowledge I had was from reading millions of words worth of fan fiction. I had difficulties with the 3 added chapters as those had 0 planning whereas the first chapter was floating around in my head for weeks or probably even months. During writing, I kinda gave up on the last 1-2 chapters as I felt it was very difficult to write something interesting and not too cringy. In the end, I just kinda closed my eyes and published the rest of the chapter and never looked at it again hoping it wasn’t completely horrible and thinking “Maybe I’ll just revise it in the future”.
A few weeks ago I decided to check the work again. After writing a few shorter random stories, I was hoping I had a bit more knowledge to make this a little bit better. Looking at the work a few months after writing it seems to have allowed me to view it in a different light. While rereading the story I really felt that it wasn’t that bad, even the last few paragraphs/scenes that I thought were really bad and cringe didn’t feel so bad now. So in the end I only changed a few words and added a new flashback scene, I originally planned to rewrite the entire last chapter but now I decided that it’s already good enough.
Another fun fact about this story: It was originally supposed to be an original work (as in not using the names from The Owl House). But in the end, I decided to write it using characters from The Owl House as the original characters were heavily inspired by them and I was planning to publish it to the Archive of Our Own anyway so it would make a lot more sense as a fanfic (and it made it a lot easier to write too hehe). Also, I might have projected myself a bit into Luz’s character or maybe a lot because I’m a lonely person who never had a partner and I wanted to write a story about going on a date, nevermind that doesn’t matter.
